I am Alex Retter. I believe people should get to love where they work. Leaders have the greatest impact on that outcome. I spent eighteen years building teams that thrive and scale. Much of it was learned the hard way.
When I stepped into leadership for the first time, the training I received was almost entirely about protecting the company. Communication frameworks. Compliance. Metrics management. Useful, yes. But none of it answered the question I was asking: how do I show up for my people in a way that moves them forward?
I learned what I know by being a practitioner. Reading. Learning. Trial and error. Engaging mentors. And some life-lessons I would not wish on anyone.
I am a structured person with a military background. For years, I thought that combination was an asset, and in some ways it was. But I was landing with people differently than I intended.
I did a 360 evaluation with a third-party facilitator. I got honest feedback from my team, my peers, cross-functional partners, and the leaders above me. I read all of it.
That feedback was the greatest gift.

The six months after that 360 were the hardest professional work I have ever done. And the most important.
What I learned was not that I had been doing it wrong. What I learned was that the gap between how we intend to show up and how others experience us is the entire game. Close that gap, and everything else gets easier.
I went on to lead a 125-person team at Cisco, accountable for $188M in bookings. When I left in 2025, the messages I received from teammates, peers, and people I had led told me more than any performance review ever could.

When does the Accelerator open?

What is the time commitment?
Each foundation is designed for completion in one to two weeks at one or two lessons per week. Five foundations total. A serious working professional can complete the program in eight to ten weeks of intentional effort. There is no penalty for moving slower or faster. The work fits your calendar, not the other way around.
Is this self-paced or live?
Both. The five foundations are self-paced video lessons you complete on your schedule. Founding members also get live sessions with Alex during the inaugural cohort. Future buyers will receive the recorded version. The live access is exclusive to the founding cohort.
What if I am not a manager yet?
The Accelerator is built for four kinds of leaders: new managers, aspiring leaders without the title yet, peer leaders with influence but no formal authority, and entrepreneurs leading a team for the first time.
